Hutsonville Elementary School Library, with sponsorship by York Masonic Lodge #313, West Union, recognized Hutsonville students for their reading work with the Bikes for Books program. During March 94 students in grades first through fifth successfully read 1,303 books. For each book read, the student’s name was added to a drawing for a new bike. Jaxton Wall, 5th grade, was the lucky winner. He received his new bicycle, safety helmet, and locking cable on Monday, April 15. The Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program, in cooperation with local lodges, sponsors Bikes for Books allowing Illinois Masonic Lodges to promote academic success through positive recognition of reading in elementary schools across the state. COMING SOON! York Masonic Lodge #313, West Union, in cooperation with Illinois Masonic Children’s Assistance Program is partnering with Hutsonville Elementary School Library to sponsor the Bikes for Books program. Through positive recognition of reading in elementary schools across the state, Bikes for Books allows Illinois Masonic Lodges to promote academic success. The program is simple, each time a student successfully reads a book, their name will go into a drawing toward winning a new bike. Hutsonville students in first through fifth grades will participate in the program this spring with the winning student receiving a new bicycle and helmet in recognition of their literacy work.
